This post will help you identify if your LED nail lamp is not curing, and provide a checklist for how to fix the problem. For many salon owners, this is an all too common problem. The solution can be frustrating but don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with our list of things to check before contacting the manufacturer.
What is an LED nail lamp?
LED Nail Lamp is a device that cures nail polish by emitting LED light. Most lamps also come with a UV option, which emits ultraviolet rays to cure gel polishes.
When you first receive your lamp it should have the following:
- Carrying Case A sturdy carrying case will protect your lamp from any damage while transporting it.
- AC Adapter The AC adapter plugs into the wall and provides power to your lamp.
- User Manual This is a must have for any product! The user manual will provide you with all the necessary information on how to use your nail lamp safely and effectively.
If your LED nail lamp does not have these components, please contact the manufacturer.
What To Do When LED Nail Lamp Is Not Curing
Is your lamp plugged in? The AC adapter should be firmly plugged into a wall socket and the power button on the side of the LED nail lamp should be turned on. If you’re using a surge protector with an off/on switch it’s possible to have the lamp on but still plugged into the off position.
Does your nail polish require a curing time? Some polishes, like gel polishes, need an additional minute of curing after being exposed to LED light or two minutes if they are cured under UV light. Check with your manufacturer for specific timing guidelines that are unique to your product.
Are you using the correct light bulb for your nail polish? LED nail lamps typically come with two light bulbs: one LED and one UV. Make sure you are using the correct type of bulb for your particular nail polish. For example, if you’re using a gel polish, use the UV light bulb.
Are you holding the lamp in the correct position? The light from an LED nail lamp should be directed at the nail, not the hand or fingers. You’ll want to make sure the arm of the lamp is parallel to your fingertips.
Is there enough distance between your nails and the lamp? There should be at least an inch of space between your nails and the light.
Have you allowed enough time for the curing process? The length of time required to cure a nail polish will vary depending on the type of polish you are using. Check your manufacturer’s instructions for specific timing guidelines.
How to fix LED nail lamps?
There are a few things you can do to try and fix a LED nail lamp that is not curing your nails.
If the problem is that the light isn’t coming on, check to make sure that the lightbulb is in place correctly and that it is not burned out. If it is burned out, replace it.
If the problem is that the nails are not being cured, you can try adjusting the time or power of the light. If this doesn’t work, you may need to get a new LED nail lamp.
LED nail lamps are a great way to quickly and easily cure your nails, but they can sometimes stop working properly. If your LED nail lamp is not curing your nails, try the tips above to fix it!
Check your instruction manual Most manufacturers have a troubleshooting guide or FAQ section included in the user manual.
